NIU Roars Back To Nip Eastern Illinois

The Huskies trailed by 20 points in the first quarter but managed to come back late and seal their third win.
After trailing 20-0 midway through the first quarter, the Northern Illinois Huskies managed to rally, beating Eastern Illinois 43-39.

The Huskies struggled against Eastern senior quarterback Jimmy Garappolo, who is considered an NFL prospect despite playing at the FCS level. Garappolo carved up the Huskies to the tune of 450 yards and a school record 6 touchdown passes. Seven different Panthers caught passes against the Huskies, and two went for over 130 yards.

But the Huskies roared back. Jordan Lynch provided the usual heroics, despite throwing his first interception of the year. Lynch finished with 424 total yards (235 passing, 189 rushing) and one score through the air. But it was brusing tailback Cameron Stingily who stole the show, putting up 134 yards on 21 carries and two touchdowns, including the game winner.

The Huskies get back on the road next week, traveling to Purdue to play the Boilermakers.
