NIU Wins Thriller at Iowa

NIU turned the tables on the Iowa Hawkeyes, winning a last second thriller to open the season.
2013 got off to a much better start than 2012 for Jordan Lynch and the NIU Huskies. Considering how good last season was, the sky could be the limit if their luck and play continues until November.

Lynch and the Huskies got revenge on the Iowa Hawkeyes, paying them back for last second loss to open the 2012 season. This time it was the Huskies who broke hearts, with Mathew Sims kicking a 34 yard field goal as time expired to make them 1-0 on the year.

After struggling against Iowa in 2012, Jordan Lynch was better than ever to open the new season. He went 25/41 for 275 yards and 3 touchdowns through the air, and kept the chains moving with 56 yards on 22 carries.

Of concern to NIU was wide receiver Tommylee Lewis. After catching 5 passes for 82 yards and a score, Lewis went down with what appeared to be an ankle or knee injury. No update was provided on Lewis after the game.

NIU's next game is at Idaho on Saturday, September 14.
