NIU's Ward At Senior Bowl

NIU safety Jimmie Ward is hoping to impress the NFL scouts at the Senior Bowl.
MOBILE, ALABAMA-Safety Jimmie Ward will most likely be the top NIU Huskie taken in the NFL draft in May. This week he's getting a chance to improve his draft stock at the Senior Bowl.

Each practice is closely watched by NFL scouts. The game will be played Saturday afternoon. Ward will play for the North team which is coached by the coaching staff from the Atlanta Falcons. The South team is being coached by the staff from the Jacksonville Jaguars.

This week is extra special for Ward because he's back home. "It's phenomenal for me being I'm from Mobile. I grew up watching that game," said Ward to WTVO recently. "A lot of family and a lot of my friends will be there supporting me, so it's big time."

Ward was an All-American this past season. He intercepted seven passes. His dream is to play in the NFL. "That's one of my goals," says Ward. "Hopefully everything will fall in line."
