WASHINGTON, D.C. - Health officials have decided to delay open enrollment in private health insurance under Obamacare.

The start of open enrollment is now Nov. 15, 2014, a month late.  The sign-up period has been extended from seven weeks to eight.  The department wants to give insurers, consumers, and engineers more time for enrollment.

It's a bid to avoid the first go-around's site crashes, coverage train wrecks, and cost surprises.
