CHICAGO-Former Cubs pitcher Mark Prior is finished attempting comebacks. He announced Tuesday that he is retiring from playing baseball.
Prior has attempted numerous comebacks since having reconstructive shoulder shoulder in 2006. His latest attempt this year with the Reds AAA team ended when he went on the disabled list in April with another shoulder injury.
Prior’s best season was in 2003 with the Cubs when he finished third in the NL Cy Young voting. He was 18-6 with a 2.43 ERA.
Prior says he hopes to land a front-office job in baseball.
