“Raise the Roof” Helps Revitalize Downtown Rockford

A new event series is taking over the Forest City to help revitalize the downtown area.
Rockford- The “Raise the Roof” project gathers people together at different historic downtown buildings. The night kicked off with a tour and rooftop party. Tonight’s evening started at the Coronado Performing Arts Center and progressed to three other historic rooftops.

Organizers hope "Raise the Roof" helps to draw people to spend time downtown.

"We know the urban lifestyle is desirable for a lot of people, certainly generation X and generation Y, they like that kind of lifestyle we've seen it with our boutique restaurants. And now we're going to have more people living downtown which will create more activity," said Rockford Area Realtors Association Executive Steven Bois.

Proceeds from the cost of tickets were donated to the Laurent House. The Laurent House is a Rockford Frank Lloyd Wright home that's being turned into a museum.
