RHS To Honor REACT Flight Team Tragically Killed One Year Ago

ROCKFORD - Tuesday marks the one year anniversary of the tragic accident that killed three members of the REACT medical helicopter team.

ROCKFORD - Tuesday marks the one year anniversary of the tragic accident that killed three members of the REACT medical helicopter team.

To honor the memories of pilot Andy Olesen and flight nurses Jim Dillow and Karen Hollis, Rockford Health System will hold a number of private recognition activities.  Among them include employees wearing blue shirts, REACT shirts, wristbands, and other "blue" items.  A service will be held for the REACT crew and family members in the REACT hangar.  Also, the EMS flag will fly on the main flagpole on the N. Rockton Ave. campus.

At 3pm, a moment of silence will be held.  Chaplain Barry Britton will then share a brief message on the overhead paging system on the N. Rockton campus, followed by the ringing of three bells.

The event is not open to the public.  However, well-wishers are encouraged to visit the REACT team's site, send an email to REACT@rhsnet.org, or post a message on the RHS facebook page.

Olesen, Dillow, and Hollis all died last December while responding to a call near Rochelle.  Icy conditions caused the helicopter's crash.
