ROCKFORD - A local man is under arrest after allegedly breaking into a funeral home.

Edward Hall, 32, is charged with burglary and possession of burglary tools.  Police say he broke in through a window at the Collins & Stone Funeral Home at 128 S. 5th Street.  A witness reportedly saw him and called it in.

Officers surrounded the home, including a K-9 unit from Illinois State Police.  Hall was found hiding in the funeral home's basement.  Police recovered several pieces of candy from a jar within the funeral home.

If convicted, Hall would be a repeat offender.  He's currently on probation for a previous theft conviction.
