Rockford Man Sentenced for April Home Invasion

ROCKFORD -- A Rockford man is sentenced to 27 years in prison for home invasion, armed robbery, resisting arrest, and marijuana possession.

The Winnebago County State's Attorney's Office says 26-year-old Marcell Norris was sentenced for an incident that happened this past April.

Norris was one of two men who broke through the front door of a home in the 2300 block of S. 6th St. in Rockford, pointed handguns at the woman inside and demanded cash.   One of the men then continued to hold a gun to her head while the other took two laptop computers from the home and fled.

A 911 tip from a neighbor helped a police officer spot and follow an SUV with the suspects inside.  The SUV stopped and the men inside attempted to flee, with Norris being arrested by police nearby.
