Rush Reach Second Round

The Roscoe Rush have reached the second round of the MSFL playoffs.
ROCKFORD-The Roscoe Rush (8-4) advance to the second round of the MSFL playoffs with a 27-20 win over the weekend.  Roscoe got their revenge after their overtime loss two weeks ago to the Wauwatosa Spartans (5-3).

The Rush jumped out to a 14-0 lead after two Jason Hufford touchdown passes.  Charles Chatman caught one for 29 yards, and Antwon Jones caught a 62 yard touchdown. Late in the second quarter Hufford connected on a 39 yard touchdown pass to Antwon Jones to extend the Rush lead to 20-10.  Jones caught 5 passes for 191 yards and 3 touchdowns for Roscoe.  Jason Hufford was 17-29 passing with 401 yards, and 4 touchdowns.  Dan Carter caught 4 passes for 79 yards as he continues to be the MSFL's leading receiver.

The Spartans would cut the lead to 20-17 after a fumble by the Rush on their opening drive to start the second half.  It did not take Roscoe long to extend their lead after Hufford connected with Jones a 77 yard touchdown pass to give Roscoe a 27-17 lead.  After a late field goal by the Spartans the Rush would run the clock out for a final 27-20 victory.

Defensively, Roscoe was led by Anthony Dedmond's 8 tackles.  Bryan Morehead and Marvin Hooker chipped in 5 tackles a piece and Hooker record 2 interceptions for the defense.

Now its off to face the team who knocked Roscoe off their road to 3 straight Championships last year, the Racine Raiders!  The Raiders have a 25 game winning streak entering this game.  Kickoff is Saturday at 7 pm, at Horlick Field in Racine.
