Two kinds of drivers in particular are caught breaking the law in Belvidere over the Labor Day weekend.
Belvidere Police issued 110 tickets over Labor Day weekend. A decent chunk of those involved seat belt violations and drivers driving without insurance. Belvidere Police received funding from the state to hire off-duty officers from Aug. 16 - Sep. 12 to beef up its Labor Day patrols to keep roads safe.
Here's how the rest of those tickets break down:
32: Seat belt
2: Other D.L.
3: BAC Over .08
2: Minor consumption of alcohol
5: Illegal trans of alcohol
1: Obstructing a Peace Officer
2: Resisting a Peace Officer
2: Obstructing identification
1: Open liquor in public
1: Unsecure load
Officers say they'll continue with targeted traffic enforcement in the coming months.
