State Hopes $3 Million In Grants Can Help Find People Jobs

U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) announced Illinois will get $2,953,707 through two programs administered by the Dept. of Housing and Urban Development.  Those are the Resident Opportunities and Self-Sufficiency (ROSS) Public Housing Family Self-Sufficiency (PH-FSS) Program and the Housing Choice Voucher Family Self-Sufficiency Program.

"These programs will help families gain the skills necessary to land good-paying jobs and affordable housing" says Durbin.  "This federal funding will give local development agencies across the state the ability to help people in their communities who need it the most."

Three housing authorities in the Stateline will receive money: Rockford, Freeport, and Winnebago County.  Below is a full list of Housing Authorities receiving funding from the grant:

  • Henry County: $48,918
  • City of East St. Louis: $69,000
  • Freeport: $69,000
  • County of Lake: $69,000
  • Macoupin County: $42,616
  • Menard County: $29,160
  • Peoria: $49,515
  • Rock Island: $65,000
  • Rockford: $68,964
  • Springfield: $39,000
  • Winnebago County: $69,000
  • Chicago: $784,133
  • DuPage: $88,710
