Stateliners Hoping to Hit it Big on The Powerball

The Powerball is up to four hundred million dollars
If you have not checked your Powerball ticket from Saturday night, I'm sorry to break it to you, but you did not win. In fact, nobody won.

Word got around quick as Stateliners were eager to buy Powerball Tickets. Rockford's Mobil Gas Station off Auburn was packed.

Employee Lateasha Wallace says "(we) run two lines here so the lottery line was going out the door."

Forest City Residents were filling up their gas tanks and stopping inside to buy a quick Powerball ticket. Rockford Marathon Owner Reedy Sarat hopes to see a winner come out of the city.

Sarat says "we sell the tickets in hope somebody wins from here so you never know. "This past April, a man won fifty million dollars playing the Powerball at a Freeport gas station.

Reedy says he's seen increase in Powerball purchases since then. Sarat says "some people are playing five dollars, others ten dollars, some guys come in and play one hundred dollars so you never know."

Rockford resident Carl Leach purchased a ticket hoping lady luck will be on his side. Leach says "it only takes one ticket to win. I encourage everybody to play."

The next Powerball drawing will be this upcoming Wednesday.
