Students Focus On Potential Careers At Expo

ROCKFORD-Alignment Rockford teams up with District 205 for the event
Rockford, Illinois- Students from Rockford schools had the chance to head to the BMO Harris Bank Center for the 2nd annual Academy Expo. There were more than 140 different booths setup to give students options.

With the new academy programs in the district, it allows students to pick particular careers to start a focus on them before they head to college.

Spencer Kelley, an Auburn student is interested in motorcycles so he stopped by the Kegel Harley-Davidson booth.

"I might join the Army, but if I could be a mechanic and work on motorcycles or other vehicles that would be kind of neat," Kelley said.

Allen Matlock works at Kegel and he knows the value of learning a quality skillset at a young age.

"If you have a hobby and something you really enjoy, you can make it into a career," said Matlock.

He also left students with an important piece of advice.

"The only limitations are the ones you set for yourself," said Matlock

Around 5,000 students attended the event.
