WTVO/WQRF -- Several homes were reported to be destroyed and many more damaged as a tornado touched down in the Peoria suburb of Washington, IL.  Initial reports of injuries are not available from a storm system which put much of the Midwest on high alert.

Amateur video of the tornado was posted on Facebook.  'Eyewitness News' can verify the whether this is video of the Washington tornado, but have put a link on our Facebook page.  It can be found at:

A tornado was also spotted on the ground in Coal City, and then was confirmed in southwest suburban Frankfort according to WLS-TV, although there are no reports of damage.  However, the Bears game against the Ravens had a nearly 2 hour delay as severe weather and high winds swept through the area.  'Eyewitness News' Sports Anchor Peter Fleischer is at the game and will have a full report on 'Eyewitness News Local at 9:00 and 10:00.'

In the Stateline, some semis traveling up I-39 were blown onto their sides by straight line winds, but other than that, damage was minimal.  Many areas saw thunder, lightning, hail and heavy rains, but no tornado activity.
