DIXON - An early morning fire ends with one woman's death.
The first alarm was sounded at 4:20am Friday at the Dixon rural fire department for a blaze at a split level home near the intersection of Kilgore and Clearview roads. Dixon Rural Fire Captain Nancy Mercer says crews arrived to find heavy fire pouring from the house, and quickly called for mutual aid. It took the help of nine departments about two hours before the fire was extinguished.
The Lee County Sheriff's Dept. has confirmed one woman inside died in the blaze. Her name has not been released.
The State Fire Marshall's Office is on the scene and investigating, including determining what caused the blaze.
