Utah State Players Comment On Facing NIU

Utah State players say they'll be in for a battle in the Poinsettia Bowl.
LOGAN, UTAH-There is no shortage of respect by Utah State for NIU's football team. The Aggies know the Huskies record and their achievements over the past couple seasons.

"They're a talented team obviously," says linebacker Zach Virgil. "Had they not lost (in the MAC Championship game) they'd be in a BCS bowl. We know they're a talented team, and we know we're a talented team. It's going to be a battle."

"They were one win away from a BCS Game this year and last year," says running back Joey DeMartino. "They're going to be coming to play, and we've got to come to play too."

Utah State Coach Matt Wells says the Aggies will have their work cut out trying to contain Jordan Lynch. "Nobody has matched up with him in two years. That's the bottom line except Florida State," says Wells. "Any time you're looking at a young man that's rushed for 1800 yards you'd think he was one of the premier running backs in the country. It just so happens he's thrown for 2600 yards. He was in New York (for the Heisman weekend) for a reason."

The Poinsettia Bowl will be played Thursday, December 26th.
