West State Street Could Reopen by the End of Next Week

But work on massive reconstruction project will continue throughout the winter.
ROCKFORD -- City officials say that weather permitting, West State Street and Central Avenue will be re-opened to traffic at the end of the day on December 13th even though there is still work to be done.

The weather, however, may not be as cooperative as road workers might hope.  There is a possibility of snow early in the week and bitter cold temperatures all next week, all of which could mean construction delays.

Road work will also continues throughout the winter months, meaning drivers using West State will still face work zone speed limits and are asked to be especially alert in the construction zone.

The massive West State St. reconstruction project consists of the widening of Business Route 20 and the realignment of Jefferson Street.
