WINNEBAGO CO. - Another candidate enters an already crowded Democratic field to become Winnebago County's next Sheriff.
Joining the fray is Glenn Heidenreich (D). He made his announcement Monday afternoon at the Winnebago County Justice Center. Heidenreich started at the department as a Corrections Officer. Over the next 20 years he earned promotions to Deputy, Detective, and Sergeant.
The former Navy SEAL has his hands full. He'll have to defeat fellow democratic candidates Bob Redmond, Randy Olson, and Bob Springer in the March primary.
The seat is being vacated by longtime Sheriff Richard Meyers. He chose not to run for re-election and retire.
