If the Bears reach the Super Bowl the next couple years it will be without any help from Vic Fangio.

According to numerous reports including one by ESPN’s Adam Schefter who first reported it on twitter, Fangio is expected to be named the head coach of the Denver Broncos.

Fangio was the Bears’ defensive coordinator the past four seasons first under John Fox and then under Matt Nagy. This past season the Bears’ defense led the NFL in fewest points allowed and in takeaways.

Fangio is 60 years old. This will be his first head coaching job after 32 seasons working as an assistant coach in the NFL.
