The Bears wasted no time Tuesday during the start of free agency addressing their shortcomings at the receiver positions.
They agreed to deals with Allen Robinson, Taylor Gabriel and Trey Burton. None of the agreements can be signed or officially announced until Wednesday.
Robinson played for the Jaguars previously. He missed most of last season with a major knee injury. In 2014 and 2015 he was one of the most productive receivers in the NFL. In 2015 he had 80 receptions for 1400 yards and he led all NFL receivers with 14 touchdown catches.
Gabriel, at 5’8 uses speed to make up for his lack of size. Two seasons ago he was a key cog in a Falcons’ offense that helped the Falcons reach the Super Bowl.
Burton was a tight end for the Super Bowl champion Eagles last season. He had 23 receptions for 248 yards and five touchdowns.
The Bears reportedly reached an agreement with former Dolphins kicker Cody Parkey and they re-signed one of their own free agents cornerback Prince Amukamara. He gets a three-year deal.
