It’s the news most Bears’ fans have been waiting for…the official word that Cody Parkey is no longer a Chicago Bears. The Bears announced Wednesday evening that they have released Parkey.

Parkey’s fate was sealed when Parkey missed a potential game-winning field goal at the end of the Bears’ playoff game against the Eagles in January. It was the seventh time last season that Parkey missed a field goal attempt. He was 23-30.

Parkey just signed a four-year deal with the Bears as a free agent last year. He has also kicked for the Colts, Eagles, Browns and Dolphins during his career.
