If there’s one game Mike Glennon has had circled on his calendar it’s this Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

“It’s at the place I was the past four years. I think its just human nature looking forward to this a little more just because I’m going against my former team,” says Glennon.

Glennon spent his first four seasons in Tampa. He played in 21 games and lost the starting spot twice to Josh McCown and later Jameis Winston. Glennon says he isn’t keen on proving to his former wrong for letting him go, but more importantly picking up his new team’s first win of the season.

“It doesn’t really come down to showing them anything,” says Glennon. “I just want to have a winning performance, and help my team get back to 1-1.”

But if you ask guys in the locker room Glennon is eager for this weekend’s match-up.

“He’s mentioned it,” says receiver Deonte Thompson. “Going back to Tampa, man. I’m pretty sure he is amped up. I mean he already told us we’re going back to Florida so let’s go play some football.”

The Bucs first game of the season was canceled due to Hurricane Irma. So the Bears have to rely on last year’s match-up and of course insight from their starting quarterback who knows their schemes and players very well.

“Obviously I’m familiar with their offense,” says Glennon. “I’m familiar with their defense. I mean I was going against them in scout team everyday. Last year was the first year Mike Smith was there.”

“Mike’s experience does help, and it helped in the Atlanta game,” says offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains. “He had a lot of great ideas, and great thoughts on those guys. He’s been around the building the last two days, and he’s definitely been able to bring some insight and detail to the game plan.”
