Dontrelle Inman hasn’t been a Chicago Bear for very long, but the fourth year wide-out has already made his presence known throughout Halas Hall.

“He’s the guy that’s in my office at 6:30 in the morning, and wanting to go through plays,” says offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains. “It’s nice to have that veteran guy that’s done that.”

“He’s a really smart player, likes to study the game, and a really hard worker studying the offense,” says quarterback Mitch Trubisky. “He’s picked things up really quickly around here.”

Inman makes his way from the LA Chargers via trade after the Bears week seven win against the Panthers. The four-year veteran has over 1400 yards receiving and seven touchdowns. Since his arrival to Chicago Inman has spent countless hours learning the Bears offense so he can contribute right away. It’s a work ethic Inman learned from his former Chargers teammate and now Ravens safety Eric Weddle.

“I began to create that work ethic from him, and he’s taught me a whole lot. That you get in, you get your work done, you study the film, and your body’s ready for the day. So that’s one thing I learned a couple of years ago.”

It’s no secret the Bears have been struggling at wide receiver. The team has thrown eight touchdown passes combined, and only two of them were caught by wide receivers.  Inman hopes to help change things in the second half of the season.

“I just hope to just be a guy out there that’s just having fun, and be a leader. Be able to support the team, and help the team win.”

Not only are the Bears hoping Inman makes an impact on the wide receivers, but also on Mitch Trubisky. Inman spent a number of years with one of the best quarterbacks in the game Philip Rivers.

“I’ve encouraged Mitchell,’Hey, pick his brain. He’s been around one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. You can learn a lot from that guy,” says Loggains.

The Bears playbook isn’t the only thing Inman is adjusting to. The climate in Chicago is very different than the one he’s used to on the west coast, but Inman has already prepared himself for Midwest winters.

“I went all over downtown Chicago, and got the right coat.”
