Candice King came to Eyewitness News in December of 2009 as the Morning Meteorologist, and then became the Chief Meteorologist in April of 2012.

Raised just outside of Freeport, on a dairy farm in Ridott, she is very familiar with how quickly weather can change in the Midwest.  Candice has always had an interest in weather ever since she was a little girl.  She wondered why it would rain on one day and not the next.  This curiosity quickly grew into a passion that would soon lead to her career.

After graduating from Freeport Senior High School, she attended Highland Community College where she received her Associate of Science degree.  From there she went to Northern Illinois University and graduated in May 2004 with her Bachelor of Science in Meteorology degree.  She then received her Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Certificate the following year.  Shortly after, she began working as the Weekend Meteorologist at the NBC station in Rockford.  After taking a little break from broadcasting, she quickly realized how much she missed the weather and is now happy to be part of the First Warn Weather Team.

When Candice isn’t in the Weather Center she loves spending time with her husband, Tim, and three daughters, Madyson and Emily and Abigail.
