The beginning of 2016 will mean the enforcement of hundreds of new laws in Illinois. Some will be groundbreaking, others will not have an effect on most people in Illinois.

New laws include creation of requirements for schools to protect students from cyber bullying. Another will protect drivers from having to surrender their licenses if pulled over for a speeding ticket or other petty offense.

But there are also less lofty laws including one making pumpkin pie the official state pie.
