The Boone County Coroner has confirmed that the body recovered from the Kishwaukee River on Thursday evening is that of Kyle Rogers.

The body was pulled from the area near the Belvidere Dam. The body was spotted around 7pm Thursday by a person in Belvidere Park, who called the Belvidere Fire Department. An autopsy was performed at 9 a.m. Friday morning. The preliminary cause of death was determined to be drowning.

The death is not considered to be suspicious at this time.

Kyle Rogers was last seen on May 10th after a concert at the Apollo theater, walking toward the 100 block of South State Street in Belvidere.

After attending a concert at the Apollo Theatre and stopping at a local bar, Rogers told friends he was heading home at about 11:50 p.m. He has not been seen from since.

Just hours before, the Belvidere Police Department issued a statement detailing their search efforts, which included following up on tips and leads, searching ground, water and air, using sonar devices to search the Kishwaukee River, and using drones to map and photograph several miles of terrain.
