Roscoe voters approve to bring a specialized bus service to the township.

A measure to potentially bring the Stateline Mass Transit District to Roscoe passed Tuesday with 57% of the vote.

SMTD provides shuttle service for medical purposes, mostly for elderly and disabled people.  Roscoe officials say it’ll cost about $3,000 per year.  Township Supervisor Jim Benkovich told Eyewitness News that the money will come from the recreation fund, which has about $600,000 sitting in it.

Critics of the measure reportedly want to use the money to improve athletic facilities instead.  Even with voters’ support, the vote is non-binding.
