Winnebago County’s Chief Deputy Coroner is one step closer to getting the promotion he’s been waiting for.
William “Bill” Hintz defeated Karla Zeal in the primary, earning him the right to represent the republicans in the General Election to become the county’s next Coroner. He’ll face Frank Fitzgerald (D). Hintz is no stranger to the position. Hintz has worked at the Coroner’s office for nearly 18 years, the past three as Chief Deputy Coroner.
This comes as long-time Coroner Sue Fiduccia announced her retirement in 2015. She’s served as the Coroner for 21 years. She was first appointed in 1995 to succeed Dr. John Seward. She won the 1996 election and has been re-elected four times since then.
