ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Two children, a 14-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy, were arrested by Rockford Police for allegedly attempting to rob a woman at a Rockford gas station.

Police say they were called to the Circle K gas station at 2225 West Riverside Boulevard around 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 4th.

There, a 29-year-old woman said she was getting into her car when the girl approached her, implied she was armed, and demanded her money. The woman said the girl demanded she get out of her car, but the victim drove off instead.

Nothing was taken and no one was hurt, according to police.

Officers were able to locate the two juveniles hiding in the area and arrested them, recovering a toy gun in the process.

Each juvenile was charged with Attempted Aggravated Robbery and Attempted Vehicular Hijacking.

They were taken to the Juvenile Detention Center.
