DeKalb Police have charged a 16-year-old teen from Aurora for firing a gun near Northern Illinois University.
Officers from DeKalb City, DeKalb County and Northern Illinois University all responded to the 800 block of Annie Glidden Road on Tuesday for a report of someone shooting a weapon in that area.
Police say they recovered shell casings a parking lot in the 900 block of Pappas Drive.
With the assistance of the public and video surveillance, officers identified the suspect and subsequently searched an apartment in the 800 block of Spiros Court.
During the search, police say they found two guns, one of which matched the caliber of the casings they recovered.
A 16-year-old juvenile was arrested for Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm and was taken to the Kane County Juvenile Justice Center.
