17-year-old pleads guilty to 2016 murder of 14-year-old Jamario Crawford

A 17-year-old Rockford teen has pleaded guilty to First Degree Murder in the killing of 14-year-old Jamario Crawford in 2016.

Coley Carwell was 15-years-old when he allegedly shot and killed Crawford on November 11th at around 7pm in the area of North Rockton Ave. and Bruce Street near the Roosevelt Community Education Center.  17-year-old Lontrell Brantley was also shot in the shoulder.

Carwell pled guilty on Tuesday to charges of First Degree Murder and Aggravated Battery with a Firearm.

He will be sentenced on June 1st.
