Rockford Police have announced an arrest of an 18-year-old Rockford teen for allegedly trying to steal a 64-year-old man’s bicycle, knocking him to the ground in the process.
The victim told police he was riding his bike eastbound on Broadway at 8th Street on Tuesday around 8 p.m. when he was struck by a black male and knocked to the ground. The victim was able to provide police with a description of the suspect, and a short time later Rockford Police SCOPE officers stopped two people in the area of 15th Avenue and 7th Street. One was identified as 18-year-old Kewon Woods and the other, a 15-year-old juvenile.
Based on an investigation conducted by the SCOPE team, they identified Woods as the perpetrator and took him into custody.
