2 people shot in exchange of gunfire on Rockford’s Acorn Street

Rockford Police are investigating a shooting that took place on Acorn Street between two rival groups that left two people injured.

Witnesses say that around 1:30 p.m., two cars were involved in an exchange of gunfire, and at least 5 shots were heard.

Police say the victims include a 39-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man, who was shot in the head. Both victims are in serious condition but their injuries are described as non-life threatening.

Vehicles were also damaged in the incident.

Police described the shooting as part of an ongoing dispute between two groups.
