LAKE OF THE OZARKS, Mo. (WTVO) — A boy from Fairview Heights, Illinois drowned at Lake of the Ozarks on Sunday morning, police said.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the 2-year-old boy wandered away from his family around 9:45 a.m. and was later found dead in the water.

Police said the drowning happened at the Grand Glaize Arm of the lake, and the boy was not wearing a safety device.

He was pronounced dead at a local hospital around 11:30 a.m.
