The button design for this year’s Young at Heart Festival was unveiled at Harlem High School on Thursday.
Carson Menke’s design will grace the festival button. The senior at Harlem was chosen out of a field of applicants. His design will be used on festival buttons and promotional materials.
While getting a cash prize for winning, Menke says that isn’t the best part.
“I was awarded $100 for creating the button, [but] I would say even bigger of a reward out of that was being able to see everyone at the festival wearing my button,” said Menke. “It’d be cool just to say, ‘I made that and everyone’s wearing it.'”
The winning artwork was chosen by Machesney Park’s Chamber of Commerce.
