Thursday marks the beginning of a more than 300-mile bike ride in Illinois meant to memorialize police officers who have been killed in the line of duty in the state.

The ride is put on by the group ‘Illinois Concerns of Police Survivors’ or C.O.P.S. Taking part includes families, departments and communities of fallen police officers.

The ride begins Thursday in Alton. By Sunday they’ll reach Chicago.

Riders will make pit stops along the way to honor specific officers. A stop will be made in Bartlett on Saturday dedicated to Officer Jaimie Cox.
