A Successful 5th Year for Community Baby Shower

Eyewitness News once again teamed up with the Crusader Clinic to help moms in need.  For the fifth year in a row, the Community Baby Shower saw a growth in donations.

Onesies and other items for babies piled up at Crusader Clinic.

“I think that it is wonderful,” said Crusader’s Vice President of Development, Linda Niemiec.  “The Rockford community is so very generous and giving, especially to the Community Baby Shower and we are just so very grateful.”

We partnered up with Crusader to help provide supplies for new moms.  Niemiec says Crusader delivers 25% of the babies born in Winnebago County.  So, there’s definitely a need for it.

“We have a lot of newborns that are welcomed into our community and we like to give the newborn parents new items for their baby to welcome them into the world.  Our patients have very limited incomes and you want to promote healthy beginnings as much as you can.”

The donations aren’t just for helping Stateline moms, but also for others in need.

“Sometimes people have situations where there is a fire and all of their items are taken.”

Niemiec adds diapers is a major need, since newborns can go through a dozen a day.
