A new Alpine Bank branch is opening in west Rockford and it’s in the same area where several other banks have closed.
The new branch will open at 1401 N. Main St., just a short distance from the Auburn and Main roundabout. Nine bank branches have closed in the Rockford area in the last five years, that includes the US Bank just up the road.
Alpine Bank’s chairman says he grew up in the surrounding neighborhood and wants to fulfill the residents’ banking needs.
“There’s been a trend over the years where there’ve been a number of branches of other banks that have exited this corridor,” said Chairman Rob Funderburg. “I think it’s very important for Alpine Bank to have their presence here. I’ve worked on that for over ten years.”
The new location is Alpine Bank’s 16th branch. They’ve been operating in the Rockford area since 1908.
