American Legion, Freeport Bar Team Up For Flood Relief

Relief efforts are underway in the Stateline, but this event benefited those affected by July’s massive flooding in Pearl City.

The American Legion there hosted a dinner and fundraiser at Rt. 20 Bar and Grill in Freeport.  For $9.99, diners got to eat BBQ Chicken, corn, and baked potatoes.  Organizers say there are still many residents trying to repair all the damage the flood caused.

“There was 8 ft. of water in one house,” said Roger Jacobs of the American Legion.  “It’s an old store and it had 9 ft. ceilings.  It was a foot from going in.  Some people had it in their second flood.  Some people just had it in the basement.”

Proceeds from Monday’s fundraiser will go to Pearl City flood victims.
