ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — WTVO 17 and FOX 39, the ABC and FOX television affiliates in the Rockford market, are pleased to welcome veteran journalist Whitney Martin to “Your Home Team.”

Whitney will bring over 13 years of experience back to her hometown of Rockford as Assistant News Director and anchor of “Eyewitness News in the Morning,” which can be seen each weekday from 5 to 7 a.m. on WTVO 17, and 7 to 9 a.m. on FOX 39.

Whitney worked for the CBS television affiliate in Rockford for ten years before moving to Milwaukee in 2017, where she anchored “CBS58 Morning News”.

She says, “I’m beyond thrilled to return to the anchor desk in my hometown. As a new mom, I understand the fast pace of mornings and know how valuable your time is. I’m honored to become a part of your morning routine and hope you’ll join me as we prepare for the day together.”

“Our newsroom is deeply rooted in this community, with many longtime familiar faces,” says Kelly Lattimer, Vice President and General Manager of WQRF-TV FOX 39.  “Combining Whitney’s journalistic experience in the morning with that of our evening team of Eric Wilson, Mimi Murphy, Candice King, and Scott Leber makes Eyewitness News the most recognizable news team in the Stateline, and fits perfectly with our philosophy that nobody can cover the Stateline better than those who call it home.”

Whitney’s first day on the air will be on Monday, November 4th.

WQRF-TV FOX 39 is owned by Nexstar Media Group, Inc., and provides services for WTVO-TV and Mission Broadcasting.
