Rockford police are looking for two men who robbed a man at around noon on Monday on Seminary Street, taking, among other things, his wedding ring.
The victim told police he was walking in the 1000 block of Seminary Street when two men approached him, and one of the men implied he had a gun and threatened to shoot him if he did not cooperate. As the 39-year-old victim stood there, the other man went through his pockets, taking his wallet, phone and wedding ring.
As of 1pm, several police are still on scene, including a K-9 unit. A detailed description of the robbery suspects is not yet available.
Seminary Street, which is located on Rockford’s near-east side, has been a hot spot for criminal activity in recent months.
In February, two teens walking in the 700 block of Seminary barely escaped serious injury when a gunman in a vehicle opened fire on them. One of the teens found a bullet hole in his pants leg, but neither was wounded.
In June, another pedestrian was hit in the ankle in a drive by shooting on Seminary near College Avenue, but was able to get to his vehicle and drive himself to the hospital for treatment.
