Arson suspected as cause of Rockford house fire

The Rockford Fire Department investigators determined that a fire at a Rockford home that occurred Thursday morning was intentionally set.

At 7:13 a.m., firefighters were called to a home at 3729 N. Main, which is owned by Stepping Stones of Rockford, for a structure fire.

The occupants of the home were able to evacuate, and the fire was extinguished within 10 minutes.

No one was hurt. 

Stepping Stones of Rockford finds affordable living for people suffering serious mental illness.

The house was declared uninhabitable and the occupants were relocated by Stepping Stones staff.

The investigation is ongoing.
