As Iowans Caucus, the British are Placing Odds and Betting on Who Will be the Next President

The British love to bet on most anything, and if one British oddsmaker is correct, the odds-on favorite to be the next President of the United States is ….

Hillary Clinton.

Bookmakers William Hill put her odds of taking the White House at 8/11, meaning an $11 bet placed today would earn $8 should she win the election.  Donald Trump is considered a 3/1 shot, Marco Rubio and Bernie Sanders are 6/1, and potential independent candidate Michael Bloomberg 16/1. 

Longer shots on the Republican side include Ted Cruz (20/1), Jeb Bush (25/1), Chris Christie (66/1), and even former party nominee Mitt Romney (80/1).

William Hill notes that betting on U.S. elections can be a big deal for Brits, and that one of their clients from Cornwall already stands to win £60,000 or about $85000 should Trump win both the nomination and the Presidency.
