The good news for bank customers who were receiving $100 bills instead of $20 bills at an ATM in north Harris County, Texas, is: they get to keep the money.

A customer went to the Bank of America ATM Sunday night to withdraw cash, but instead of getting the $20 bill they expected, the machine spit out $100, according to authorities.

The man posted about the machine error on social media, which of course caused a crowd to rush the location to try and get some extra cash, deputies reported.

People were still arriving even after police and sheriff’s deputies showed up at the scene.

The excitement went on for about two hours before law enforcement swarmed the area, one customer said he was cautious about taking advantage of the malfunction.

“I was amazed I don’t think people should take advantage of that and they should know that the bank will be sending them letters to return the money back so I think they shouldn’t be too happy,” said Arz Mohar, a Bank of America Customer.

Bank of America released a statement Monday afternoon stating, “This was an incident at a single atm in Houston caused when a vendor incorrectly loaded $100 bills in place of $20 bills. we have resolved the matter. customers will be able to keep the additional money dispensed.”
