ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford-native Alonzo Russell, formerly of the hip-hop dance group Fatally Unique, announced that he will be going on tour as the lead singer in a symphonic Prince tribute show.

Russell will be the lead vocalist on “4U The Music of Prince,” a symphonic celebration of the late-singer’s music backed by Prince’s estate.

As part of Rockford-based Fatally Unique, founded in 2006, Russell was a finalist on season six of NBC’s “America’s Got Talent,” and later went on a three-month tour of China with the group.

Russell won Auburn’s annual talent contest as both a freshman and a sophomore, by performing the songs and dance moves of Michael Jackson.
