The Citgo gas station at 4315 Auburn Street will be lowering prices on gas to $1.79 a gallon between 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Deon Freeman, of Freeman Entertainment, is organizing the event in order to help encourage positive events in the area, which has been the site of several crimes over the past few months.

On October 26th, a 51-year-old employee had allegedly been punched several times by suspect Darryl Smith, who was trying to force his way into the store as the employee was closing up.

A 37-year-old woman was shot and killed on November 11th, and a 25-year-old man was injured in the shooting.

A 30-year-old victim was stabbed in the neck in the parking lot of the Citgo gas station on 11th Street on November 19th.

The discounted gas is offered up to a maximum of $25 on a first come, first serve basis.
