Volunteers from Swedish American Hospital and all across the country knitted red hats that will be given to newborns as part of the American Heart Association’s “Little Hats, Big Hearts” program.
The project aims to raise awareness of congenital heart defects in infants.
“These red hats are a really good way to spread awareness, because sometimes people are like, ‘Oh, are those from Christmas?” And, it’s a good way to start that education topic, with not only parents, but also the visitors,” said Nurse Molly Satness. “And when they’re out, they can maybe spread some more awareness.”
February is National Heart Month.
