Barnes & Noble hosts author signing for Rockford firefighter’s children’s book

News

A Rockford firefighter was hosted by a local bookstore on Saturday for authoring his first-ever children’s book.

The book, “The Adventures of Rob and Rocky”, details the two protagonists adventures in public service careers.

Author Robert Chaney says his two sons inspired him. Chaney says he finds that in some children, career options aren’t considered until later in life and he thinks it’s important that they start thinking about them as early as possible.

On Saturday afternoon, people lined up to get an autograph from the local author at the Barnes and Noble store at CherryVale Mall.

“It’s a great feeling to finally — it’s surreal — to finally have it happen,” Chaney said. “A lot of hours went in to putting it together. So, to finally have someone say, ‘I’m the first person to buy your book from Barnes & Noble’, it’s pretty fun.”

Chaney has a second book on the way, due out by the end of Summer. He says he’s already working on books three, four and five as Rob and Rocky will explore various other public service jobs.
