Juan Carlos Perez, 36, of Beloit, was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison after police recorded him selling heroin to an informant.
According to court documents, the informant purchased 100 grams of heroin from Perez on December 5th, 2016. Police say during the recorded transaction, Perez said he had access to heroin, methamphetamine, and cocaine. $152,000 was recovered from the home of Perez’s girlfriend.
On Tuesday, Chief U.S. District Judge James Peterson said that the large money seizure suggested Perez was involved in a large-scale drug trafficking operation.
